Compatibilty Guides for the Film Industry
Balancing work and family life has not become any easier in 2024. This is all the more true for the film industry with its long working hours and temporary projects.
What's more, many filmmakers know little about their rights and options or are worried about claiming them. Production companies can also reach their limits when it comes to providing the necessary information.
It therefore makes sense for employees of industry companies to qualify as compatibility guides. These guides become the first point of contact for employees and temporary or project-based employees with questions about balancing a film career with pregnancy/children or caring responsibilities. They can also work towards greater awareness of family friendliness in the company or production and suggest specific measures.
Compatibilty Guide Training
Due to our own working and employment conditions in the film industry, it makes sense to develop customised further training. This is currently underway. I hope that the first seminar can still take place in 2024, otherwise it will be at the beginning of 2025.
Here are the initial key points:
Target group: interested employees of production companies, film festivals, film funding organisations, film associations, etc. as multipliers.
Realisation: two days, in presence. Long-term at the four major film locations Berlin, Hamburg, Cologne and Munich.
Contents: Fact-finding, role-playing, exchange of experiences and networking.
Topics: Information for pregnant women and parents (including maternity protection, parental leave, parental allowance, organisation, financing of childcare) and for family carers (including organisation and financing of care, care leave, self-care, legal representation - power of attorney, living will). Framework conditions in the film industry, practical examples, compatibility tools (e.g. hybrid working, shared jobs, childcare, allowances, nursing / recess rooms) and much more.
It will take longer...
Unfortunately, life is sometimes slower than ideas.
I found a further education institution that is very interested in the project and would also like to help with the conceptualization of the training - initially in Berlin, then we will have to see how and with whom it is possible in the other film locations.
However, the whole thing has been delayed much longer than expected, which means that we won't be able to launch the compatibility pilot training before 2025.
I'm very sorry about that, but we'll keep at it!
